MesoAmerican Art

Inspired by the colors and geometric shapes of MesoAmerican art and costume, I created a necklace for the collaborative project with Naomi and Amanda.  My process included making beads by rolling the plastic strapping and melting it together, painting, applying a gloss finish, and weaving.

Fortuny

Tedious lines repeat

The tucks, folds, pleats

To create a texture, a shape

An accordian to cling and drape

Flats

SwatchesFor my Fortuny inspired project, I chose to make a pleated maxi dress.  I achieved the pleated look, by doing running stitches throughout my garment, pulling it tight and then pressing it.
